In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. But maybe not for Maelyn Jones. She’s living with her parents, stuck in a job she hates, and has made a horrible romantic mistake. But worst of all, this is the last Christmas she’ll spend in her favorite place. The snowy Utah cabin where she and two other families have spent every holiday since she was born. Mentally breaking down as she drives away from the cabin for the last time, she makes an earnest and heartfelt plea. To please be shown what will make her happy. Next thing she knows, everything goes black and she’s back on the plane to Utah. She’s starting the holiday all over again. With each disaster sending her right back to the beginning on the plane to Utah, Mae has to figure out how to stop the time loop. And get her one true love under the mistletoe.

This is exactly what I wanted my last holiday read to be! I finished this in 2 days and it’s a pretty fast read. It’s such a light, heartfelt, and sweet read. I think some holiday reads can be overly emotional and not cheery enough. I’m talking about you Always, in December! I want to laugh, feel the love of family, and just experience the holiday spirit. Christina Lauren does a good job of balancing the lightness of an easy read and the heartfelt feelings of missing how simple things use to be. Things in Mae’s life aren’t going the way she planned whatsoever and she’s really struggling with that. I believe we can all relate to life not going the way we planned.

I loved Mae and her hot mess of a life! She was so lost and I felt like losing the cabin was the final blow. She looked forward to that every year and to have that taken from her was too much. I’m someone who loves traditions and looks forward to the holidays ,especially to spend time with those I love. I’m not good with change and I couldn’t imagine being told a tradition I love was being taken away from me. I enjoyed the romantic plot line and seeing Mae figure out what she always wanted was right in front of her. She just needed to wake up and realize it before it was too late! The book takes place in the mountains of Utah and made for such a beautiful background. I loved the descriptions of the cabin, all the snow, and everything else winter time in Utah. Just ignore me, a woman in Florida that won’t experience snow anytime soon.

This was such a sweet holiday romance, y'all. Not only was it about falling in love, but it was just as much about family. About not taking them for granted and loving every moment you can with them. These last few years have made me feel beyond blessed and grateful for my family. Even in the moments when they stress me out and work my fragile nerves. In a holidaze was the perfect way to end my holiday season reads. Go ahead and pick this book up y’all! You won’t regret it. Merry Christmas Eve everyone!
