The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
Kristin Hannah is a extremely talented author. She writes prolific novels but I think she excels in her historical fiction novels. She shows she has done her homework with every event she writes and is great in placing the reader in a completely different time period. The Four Winds transports the reader to 1934 Texas. 1934 is in the middle of The Great Depression. Millions out of work. Farmers are struggling to keep their land as crops are dying, water drying up, and dust is the biggest threat of all. The darkest time of The Great Depression, The Dust Bowl era, has arrived. In this hard time, Elsa Martinelli must make a difficult choice. Fight for the land she loves or go west, to California, to search for a better life.

One of The Good Ones by Maika Moulite and Maritza Moulite
Some authors have a debut novel that I love so much, I am destined to read everything they ever write from there. As Kenzi is immortalized as another victim in the fight against police brutality, her sister Happi begins to question how her sister is being remembered. Perfect. Angelic. One of the good ones.
