I read this book a long time ago actually. I remember rushing through reading it and not really liking the book. But I’ve always wanted to reread it and give it a fair chance. Well I went thrift shopping and I found this book there! I swooped it up because this was exactly what I had been wishing for. A chance to finally reread this book and see what I actually thought about it.
Queenie is a 25 year old Jamaican British woman living in London. She works at a national newspaper, comparing herself to her upper middle class white peers. After a horrible breakup with her long term white boyfriend, Queenie starts finding comfort in all the wrong places. As Queenie moves from one bad decision to the next, she ask herself some hard questions. “What are you doing? Why are you doing it?”

Nicola Yoon has written some of the best YA novels I’ve ever read. Every single book I’ve read of hers, I’ve loved. Everything, Everything is my all time favorite of hers! I saw she had a new release coming out this year and I preorder it. I just knew I had to have it ASAP!

Mary H.K Choi has such a way with words and characters. Her latest release , Yolk, was so moving and honest. Like every other book of hers I’ve read. Permanent Record isn’t her newest book but it’s one I forgot to read. It was on sale at a bookstore, so why not at that point?! Hoping this one is my newest favorite from her!

The Inheritance Games is such a fun and intriguing series. I definitely had my doubts but then I read it…it was GOOD! I knew going into it that it was the first of a series but still. This book is the second in the trilogy and it picks up right where the first one left off. I’m ready for more puzzles, games, and mystery!

This book was everywhere when it was released this June. I felt so left out, but I had a line of books to read. So I put this to the side and promised myself I would come back to it. But I never forgot that I really was interested in reading this. A romance with Black leads written by a Black author?! I’m starting this book next week and I cannot wait!
